Everything You Need to Know About Li’l Rizzo’s

About Li’l Rizzo’s

Why is it called Li'l Rizzo's?
The name Li’l Rizzo’s has a story all its own.

In 1985, Carol Borders opened the original Rizzo’s at the Lake of the Ozarks, an upscale Italian restaurant featuring steaks, chicken, veal, gourmet pastas, and the now-famous Rizzo’s House Salad.

Four years later, Carol decided to open a second, more casual restaurant. While the new location was getting ready to open, people would often ask, “Where’s Carol?” The answer was almost always, “She’s at Little Rizzo’s.”

Before long, the staff had started referring to the original restaurant as “Big Rizzo’s” and the new one as “Little Rizzo’s.” Carol loved the nickname, shortened it to Li’l Rizzo’s, and the name stuck.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Our Pizza, Pasta & Salad

How much does a large pizza feed?
Our 14-inch large pizza comfortably feeds 2–3 adults.
How much does a large salad feed?
Our large salad is entrée size. It’s enough for an adult meal.
What type of pizza do you serve?
Our Crust – Our Midwest thin crust dough recipe uses unbleached, non-bromated flour, extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, sugar, and yeast, producing a thin crust with cracker characteristics.

Our Sauce – Our red sauce uses premium California vine-ripened plum tomatoes, picked at the peak of freshness and packed for exceptional flavor.

Our Cheese – We use premium whole milk mozzarella, prized for its rich, creamy flavor and exceptional melt, and Provel, a St. Louis original and a regional favorite known for its smooth, creamy texture and signature melt. Made from a blend of cheddar, Swiss, and provolone cheeses, Provel has a rich, buttery flavor with a subtle smoky finish. Unlike traditional mozzarella, it melts exceptionally smooth and creamy, making it the classic choice for authentic St. Louis-style pizza.

Our Sizes – Our pizzas come in 8″, 12″, and 14″. (Gluten-free crust is available in 12″ only.)

Do you make your dough fresh?
Yes, we make our dough in house—never frozen. Our legacy Midwest thin crust dough recipe uses unbleached, non-bromated flour, extra virgin olive oil, sea salt, sugar, and yeast, producing a thin crust with cracker characteristics.

Why is your World-Famous House Salad so famous?
We like to say it’s “World Famous” with a smile—but after one bite, you’ll understand why. It’s our best-selling menu item and has been a guest favorite for decades. Crisp iceberg and romaine lettuce are tossed with freshly cut green onions, diced red peppers, Provel cheese, and our signature house dressing—made from red wine vinegar, olive oil, and a blend of our own seasonings—then dusted with grated Parmesan cheese. It’s simple, fresh, and incredibly flavorful—the perfect way to start any meal at Li’l Rizzo’s.
What is your most popular pizza?
Our Supreme Pizza has been a guest favorite for decades. Loaded with pepperoni, Italian sausage, black olives, green peppers, and onions, it’s the perfect combination of premium meats, fresh vegetables, and melted whole milk mozzarella on our signature crust.
What should I order on my first visit?
That’s a tough question because we have so many guest favorites! If you’re craving pizza, our Supreme Pizza is a great place to start. If pasta is more your style, we recommend our Fettuccine Alfredo—a simple yet elegant Italian classic, prepared to order with fresh cream, butter, and a blend of Italian cheeses. Try our Chicken Spiedini, featuring a boneless chicken breast marinated in our signature house dressing, hand-breaded, baked until golden, and finished with a drizzle of garlic butter. And no matter what you choose, don’t miss our World-Famous House Salad—it’s our best-selling menu item for a reason!
